Housing at DU—just like a hotel! And a few “real” hotel suggestions.

Most people think of dormitory life on a college campus and cringe—dark rooms, scary floors, bathrooms down the hall... . Quite the contrary in the newest of residence halls on the DU campus.

Nelson Residence Hall (#36 on your maps) opened Fall 2002. A current resident said, “it’s just like living in a hotel, we even have key cards!”

The dormitory, as mentioned in the January GNSI newsletter, has many pluses! The first floor houses the “food court” where many of you will eat your meals. The building is within close proximity of Sturm Hall (#12) where the majority of presentations and workshops will be held.

Each room and each floor is set up a little differently. Most rooms are arranged as suites—2 doubles or a double and 2 singles sharing a common area and bathroom. Sheets and towels are supplied by DU. All rooms are carpeted. Each has a microwave/fridge combo, internet hookup and a telephone jack (no telephone). All rooms include desks, desk lights, and an overhead light. A common kitchen can be found on each floor (bring pans if you plan on doing heavy duty cooking!) whereas the laundry is on the first level. Two elevators and stairwells per floor move residents effectively through the thin air of Colorado.

If you choose to stay off-campus the following accommodations are within a five mile radius of the campus. Please check for pricing or call Susan Muller at Andavo Travel for additional hotel suggestions 1-800-825-3283 extension 705.
