SCHEDULE OF EVENTS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE!
After supper on the Sunday night of our arrival, we will greet old friends and meet new ones, and also gaze in awe at the astounding talent on display at our annual portfolio sharing. Bring your own to show—no matter at what stage of illustration your career is at: Student, amateur or professional—and you will be given an open and welcome viewing, and will go away with support and inspiration for your future work.
Normally Monday night is reserved for the opening of our annual exhibition, but this year the show is taking place in Oregon. It will be with us in projection form however, and we all will act as a jury, choosing those pieces we normally would be picking in person, to illustrate the member directory booklet. The evening will be double fold. In Bar Harbor we will present a show of member's sketchbooks and a memorial exhibition of the work of Susan Welsch Frank. This will take place in the Museum on campus, which has limited viewing space, so we will be making group forays during the evening.
Tuesday night, along with a wine and cheese reception, MJ Brush and Virge Kask are lining up a spectacular, hopefully profitable and hugely hilarious Annual Auction. Tables will be set with silent auction items for a limited time—and then the fun begins. If you have avoided this event in the past, you have truly missed a memorable evening.
Wednesday is devoted to our awards banquet. Busses will whisk us away to Bar Harbor Lobster Bakes in nearby Hulls Cove for a traditional Maine feast. Yes, this is the same place where we gorged ourselves last time, and there will be a choice of steak, baked halibut, or vegetarian fare for those non-lobster eaters among us.
Thursday will see us swinging our partners in a contra-dance session, with wine and soft drinks to keep us from melting away, as Donald Gambino projects the pictures he has been bothering us all week taking.
Friday is planned for a last session of sketchbook sharing, where we will show all the work we have hopefully accomplished during the week. This will give us time to bid good-bye to our old and new-found buddies and make plans for next year.
