Madison Children's Museum - a fantastic place to take
young kids, up State Street, near the Capitol.

The Wisconsin Historical Museum - on the Square, across the street
from the Children's Museum, great for kids and adults.

Wisconsin Veterans Museum - triangulated with the previous museums,
historic and interesting exhibits.

Wisconsin State Capitol - right in the middle of the Square, and quite an impressive structure just to walk into and look up at the dome.

The Wisconsin Union - the best place to hang out on campus and a few blocks from where we'll be staying. There's a sunset view of Lake Mendota, live music most Summer evenings, beer, wine and food. The Memorial Union is open to the Madison community as well as UW students and staff.

Madison Museum of Contemporary Art is opening in the Overture Center (for the performing arts). This is also on State Street, near the Square.
