Evening Events

Sunday, July 15
Portfolio Sharing: 7 pm

The portfolio sharing is held the evening before the conference starts and provides a relaxed atmosphere for members and friends to reconnect. It is a great opportunity to share your work in a friendly and knowledgeable atmosphere. What better way to receive constructive criticism and do a trial presentation without fear! Bring your portfolios, business cards and a desire to learn. We will also be collecting sketchbooks for the display case at the Renne Library, to be on display all week.

Monday, July 16
GNSI Annual Exhibit Reception: 7 pm

The GNSI Exhibit will be at the Lower Gallery of Cheever Hall on the MSU campus. It will be a fairly intimate display in a simple 3-sided gallery. We hope to provide an atmosphere to once again share and discuss art while promoting the field of Scientific Illustration. This year, the Guild has the honor of being the first exhibit open for the duration of the summer. The gallery director is thrilled to have such high-quality work to kick off the summer debut.

Tuesday, July 17
GNSI Auction, MSU campus Student Center: 7 pm

The Annual Auction, always fun, often rowdy, and occasionally ridiculous, is a chance for everyone to contribute back to the Guild. Donations come in many forms: extra art supplies, scientific curiosities, Montana memorabilia - you name it. Anything and everything is game (except maybe stolen goods and endangered species). Currently, all proceeds are split between the Guild Operating Fund and the Education Fund. Items may be brought to the conference and deposited at the registration desk. If you’re not planning on attending and still want to donate (bravo!) contact the revered Auction Chick:

In addition, if you attended last year’s conference and were inspired to make a “Madison Small Work,” this is another great way to contribute. Small Works must be artwork measuring 3.5” x 4” (original or reproduction) and may be auctioned off in either the silent or the not-so-silent auction. Once again, Ed Heck is generously donating his time and effort to Madison Small Works. For more info:
