Purpose: Visual show pieces for taxonomic catalogue of fly genera.
Client: Smithsonian Institution
These two illustrations are part of a large group I did for a team of research entomologists at the Smithsonian Institution. The species were chosen by the client to be visual show pieces for a taxonomic catalogue of fly genera. I was supplied with dried, pinned insect specimens by the scientists. All preliminary sketches were done from the specimens with a dissecting microscope and camera lucida. I scanned the drawings and did all the painting in Adobe Photoshop.
