Purpose: Initially planned for a book I'm
writing/illustrating, but accelerated timing to
also be included in the Olbrich Garden's
Invitational Exhibit, Madison, Wisconsin.
Through "Mere Glimpse of His Passion" (completed for an exhibit) I hoped to communicate the unfathomable detail of the passionflower--a snippet of the creative mind and heart behind its existence. To me it demonstrates what a blast God has when He creates His artwork. The passionflower structure is said to illustrate Christ's death (God's Passion for us): double row of colored filaments signifying a crown (halo or thorns); three spreading styles with their flattened heads representing the nails; tendrils resemble the whip-marked wounds. The acrylic painting is a mere glimpse of the real passionflower, a mere glimpse of the real Passion.
