Annual Members' Exhibit
The
Guild of Natural Science Illustrators organizes an annual juried exhibit
of its members' work that is displayed in conjunction with the summer conference.
Our goal is to assemble a body of work that not only presents the highest
level of ability, but also represents the variety of subject matter and
the diversity of rendering techniques used in this field.
This year, the Annual Members Exhibit is being hosted in the D.H. Hill Library Exhibit
Gallery, at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. “I am very enthusiastic
about partnering with the Guild on this exhibit because it fits directly
into the Libraries' mission to support areas of excellence for NC State,
specifically science and technology teaching, research and learning,” explains
Lisa Carter, Head of the Special Collections Research Center at NCSU. The
Library has included historic science books from their collection to give the display even more interest.
The exhibit will be on display from June 14 through August 6, 2010. The exhibit reception will be on Monday, July 12, from 7 - 9 pm.

The Small Works Exhibit will return for action in 2010. Tiffany
Miller will be in charge of submissions, matting, and framing of the exhibit.
Small Works is a non-juried show, but images must have been inspired by
a previous years’ conference. Historically this has included only the conference
from the year before, but for 2010 we will open it up to conferences from
’07 (Bozeman), ’08 (Ithaca), and ’09 (Fort Kent) while the Exhibit went
on hiatus. Additionally, we will include submissions inspired by the Summer
Workshops from these years for a trial run.
So those of you interested in participating, get your pencils
ready. Pieces must be 3.5 x 4 inches with 1/8 inch bleed (extra image color,
etc. beyond the dimensions given above, which will fall under the mat).
All 2-D media including prints will be accepted.
The Small Works exhibit will be on display during the first
phase of the core conference, but we encourage artists to submit the work
to the auction to help raise funds for the Guild. Be sure to spend some
time falling in love with each of these pieces, since you'll be able to
put in a bid to take one home!
