On-campus housing provides an affordable option for individuals wishing to attend the conference from out of the region, but space is limited. Register early to guarantee your campus housing! Campus housing consists of comfortably furnished apartments with 4-6 single sleeper rooms and includes a centralized bathroom (shower and toilet are each individually private), kitchenette with a sink, microwave and refrigerator, and dinning area and living area, to be shared by other GNSI conference attendees. When you register, you may select suite mates and we will do our best to accommodate your selection. (PLEASE NOTE: Spouses and families are welcome – but there are no double beds in campus housing. The college requires children 11 or older be charged the full adult lodging rate @ $42 per night. Children under age 11 may sleep in a parent’s room, but extra bedding, cots, and cribs are not provided by the college. A list of nearby motels which might better accommodate families is available on request.)
The apartments are a very short walk to the dinning hall (The Greenery Café) and to the presentation lecture halls and workshop rooms, making it easy to get from place to place on campus within a few brief minutes on foot or personal powered wheels (wheelchairs, bikes, skateboards, etc).
Campus housing: $42/day/person. Campus housing is available starting Sunday evening 7/10 through Friday evening, check out will be Saturday 7/16, 10 am. Those who will not be departing campus immediately on the 16th will be able to store personal items with the Campus Housing Department. Some housing is available for those on weekend field trips. More information to come...
Off-campus accommodations: The closest inn is the Red Lion Inn (4 miles). Downtown offers several other inns/hotels such as the Phoenix Inn, Clarion, Governor's Hotel (more affordable), and Extended Stay (downtown is approximately 6 miles away). There is a small hostel too, Chez Cascadia (4.5 miles from campus).
Meals: High quality cafeteria style meals (with vegetarian options) are available on campus. Conference participants will have the choice of purchasing pre-paid meal plans so that you select which days you will be having breakfast, lunch, and dinners on campus at the Greenery Café.
Meals must be preselected for head counts, but you can pick them individually. Food and a coffee shop is also available for separate purchases, grab-n-go style, at The Market, on the second floor of the CAB, until 2pm.
Campus meals:
Breakfast, $7.50
Lunch, $10, Note: Wednesday lunch is provided for those attending the annual meeting
Dinner, $12.50
Annual Banquet, Wednesday evening: $45, includes dinner
Campus Parking: $2/day on weekdays, free on weekends. There is a large lot near the housing that is a short walk to housing and disabled parking (with proper permit) and loading zone spaces available directly at the apartments. There are also large lots near the lecture halls for day participants.
Computers: Wireless internet is available in most areas of campus, but cables can be checked out for direct connections, such as in the apartments. The library has computers available for guest use during regular library hours.
Laundry: Laundry machines are available in the housing community center next to the apartments. They require the use of a pre-paid cash card, which can be purchased in the laundry area of the Housing Community Center or the bookstore in the Campus Activities Building (CAB).
City buses: the Intercity Transit runs every 30 minutes from campus to downtown during the summer with a stop by housing and by the loop at the “Red Square” commons area near the lecture halls. Fares are $1 for single trips, $2 daily pass. http://www.intercitytransit.com/Pages/default.aspx
